Two New Special Trains in Rameswaram

The Southern Indian Railway has recently announced two special trains between Madurai and Rameswaramon January 19 & 20 because for the Rameswaram Ramanathaswamy temple consecration (Kumbabishegam). Train 1: Train Name: Madurai-Rameswaram Express Timings:  Leaves Madurai at 11.30 P.M (on January 19)                  Reach Rameswaram at 3.30  A.M ( January 20) Train 2 : Train Name: Rameswaram -  Madurai Express Timings:  Leaves Madurai at 4.00 P.M (on January 20)                  Reach Rameswaram at 8.00  P.M ( January 20) Note: The special trains would stop at Madurai east, Manamadurai, Paramakudi and Ramanathapuram in both directions. Devotees Not Allowed Inside Rameswaram temple for 5 days

B ecause of the fifth consecration (Kumbabishegam-2016) on january 20, 2016. Public Dharshan service  of the presiding deities of Rameswaram Temple ( Ramanathaswamy and Parvathavarthini ) will be stopped for five days ahead from January 16 ahead. During this period of time  Devotees are not allowed to worship deities Inside the Temple. Also Holy dip (sacred Bath) also be not allowed during these five days. As told by Temple Commissioner S . Madras HC dismisses pleas challenging kumbabishekam at Rameswaram temple -2016

M ADURAI : The Madurai bench of the Madras high court on Thursday dismissed a batch of two writ petitions that challenged the kumbabishekam at the Lord Ramanathaswamy temple in Rameswaram, scheduled to be held on January 20. The petitioners  S Pakshi Sivarajan and K Ramamoorthy filed the petitions on various grounds.,  Ramamoorthy claimed that a consecration committee had not been formed and the date had been fixed by political powers, not by the temple trust board, and that the day fixed for the ceremony was an inauspicious day. Sivarajan pointed out that the idol of the main deity was in a damaged condition and performing consecration without correcting the same was against the Agama Sastra Dismissing the petitions, the division bench of justices V Ramasubramanian and N Kirubakaran observed that the issues raised by the petitioners could not be examined on any judicially prescribed standards or parameters and so they dismissed the petitions.

Rameswaram - Bangalore Special Train Service Commenced

A new special weekly train service has announced by Indian Railway yesterday (aka: 12/4/2015). This train will be run on Sundays from Bangalore to Rameswaram and will be run on Mondays from Rameswaram to Bangalore. The train comprises one AC chair car, eight second class chair cars, five general second class and two luggage-cum-brake vans. The train Timings and stoppages listed below. The Beginning of the End: ( Dhanushkodi Super Cyclonic Storm: (1964): ) “ I was about six years old when my father embarked on the project of building a wooden sailboat to take pilgrims from Rameshwaram to Dhanushkodi, (also called Sethukkarai), and back. He worked at building the boat on the seashore, with the help of a relative, Ahmed Jallaluddin, who later married my sister, Zohara. I watched the boat take shape. The wooden hull and the bulkheads were seasoned with the heat from wood fires. My father was doing good business with the boat when, one day, a cyclone bringing winds of over 100 miles per hour carried away our boat, along with some of the landmass of Sethukkarai. The Pamban Bridge collapsed with the train full of passengers on it. Until then, I had only seen the beauty of the sea, now its uncontrollable energy came as a revelation to me.”                ...
